Britney Spears Dresses Like Cleopatra, Walks Like an Egyptian

Britney Spears shows her pose as the Queen of the Nile.
So, maybe she's just a big fan of Stacy Schiff's Cleopatra: A Life, the best-selling history that Angelina Jolie has long been thought to be turning into a film, right?
Could be, but the answer's a little simpler.
See Britney's skintight bandage dress
"Channeling my inner Cleopatra today @ Elizabeth Arden Fantasy Twist shoot. Fragrance is out in Sept. 1st look on Path," said the star on her Facebook today.
See? Whether dancing with a snake or rating the talent on X Factor, Britney has shown a knack for capturing the public's attention—though she hasn't been doing it as long as the original Cleopatra, who's inspired everyone from Shakespeare toElizabeth Taylor and beyond.
But hey, it's early. Give her time.

Olivia Culpo Wins Miss USA 2012!

Olivia Culpo is Miss USA 2012.
The 20-year-old Miss Rhode Island won the 61st annual pageant Sunday and will go on to represent the United States in the Miss Universe pageant later this year.
She topped a field of 51 contestants on Sunday to take the title at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip to take the coveted title.
Olivia Culpo, Miss USA
First runner-up was Miss Maryland Nana Meriwether, while second runner-up was Miss Ohio Audrey Bolte. Congratulations go out to all three lovely ladies.
There can be only one winner, though, and it was the beautiful brunette , a student at Boston University who donned a stunning purple Grecian-style gown.
Throughout the night, Culpo discussed her love of music - she played the cello for 13 years and was an avid band camper - and for quoting celebrities.
Culpo's best moment was when she explained why it would be fair if a transgender woman - like Canada's controversial Jenna Talackova - won the title:
"I do think that would be fair, but I could understand how people could be apprehensive to take that road," she said. But, "there are so many people who have a need to change for a happier life. I do accept that because I believe it's a free country."
Well said, Olivia Culpo. Well said.

Michael Polish: Engaged to Kate Bosworth!

t's unclear whether Kate Bosworth meant to go public with the news or not, but it's too late now:

She's engaged to director Michael Polish!

Michael Polish and Kate Bosworth

The actress made the announcement in an unusual way, updating her blog this week about her and her man's trip to South Korea by writing: On our first day in Seoul, my fiance, Michael Polish, and I venture out to discover Changdeokgung Palace...
And there it is!

Bosworth and Polish met on the set of Big Sur and went public with some serious PDA at Coldplay concert in August 2011.

Oscar Pistorius Twitter Photo: Prepare to Be Inspired

Oscar Pistorius of South Africa may not have captured a medal at the London Olympics, but you'd be hard pressed to find a bigger winner at the games, or in life.
This photo surfacing Sunday on Twitter proves it 1,000 times over.
It's an older image, but it resurfaced after Pistorius raced in the 400-meter semifinals. What Oscar Pistorius, a double amputee, did this week is immeasurable.
Because of him, Ellie Challs, the young girl he is seen racing here, can look up to a man who faced the same obstacles as her but refuse to accept limits:

Pistorius, nicknamed the Blade Runner after his cutting-edge prosthetic sprinting legs, inspired more than fellow amputees with his effort at the Olympics.
Though he didn't make the final, he did run well enough to make the semis and held his own against the best in the world in his track and field event.
Kirani James, the man who won the semifinal Pistorius ran in, was so moved that after the race, he held up the nameplate from Pistorius' uniform to the crowd.

Usain Bolt wins 100M Olympic gold

Pulling away from the pack with every long stride, Usain Bolt crossed the finish line and thrust his right index finger in the air.
Yes, he's still No. 1 in the 100-meter dash. Maybe not better than ever, but Bolt is definitely back.
Only about fifth-fastest of the eight runners to the halfway mark Sunday night, Bolt erased that deficit and overtook a star-studded field to win the final in 9.63 seconds, an Olympic record that let him join Carl Lewis as the only men to claim consecutive gold medals in the marquee track and field event at the Summer Games.
Ever the showman, the Jamaican kept right on running for a victory lap that included high-fives for front-row fans, a pause to crouch down and kiss the track and even a somersault.
Bolt's training partner and Jamaican teammate, world champion Yohan Blake, won the silver in 9.75, and 2004 Olympic champion Justin Gatlin of the U.S. earned the bronze in 9.79.

"I've spent 20 years in the pool" Michael Phelps

I consider myself normal," Michael Phelps told Piers Morgan. "I've spent 20 years in the pool. I consider that something that's normal."

In an interview on Monday's "Piers Morgan Tonight," the American swimmer who has amassed 17 Olympic medals talked about his goals for the 2012 Games, his heroes, mistakes he's made, his impending retirement and much more.

Phelps won six gold and two bronze medals at the Athens Games in 2004, and eight gold medals at Beijing in 2008. Last night, Phelps won his first ever silver as part of the 400-meter relay team. His medal collection leaves him a mere two medals away from becoming the winningest athlete in Olympic history.

In Saturday's 400-meter individual medley, Phelps came in fourth place. Fellow USA teammate Ryan Lochte won the gold. It was the first time Phelps failed to win a medal in an Olympic event since 2000. Phelps, 27, is competing in his fourth and final Olympics before retirement.
Phelps, who grew up in a suburb of Baltimore, began swimming at age 7.

Phelps at one point trained every day for five years. He spent three to six hours in the pool each day and exercised on dry land four to five days a week.
Morgan pointed out that the number of Olympians who cite Phelps as an inspiration makes the swimmer an almost godlike figure, but Phelps said that his athletic role model has always been Michael Jordan.

"On and off the court, the guy made basketball what it is," Phelps told Morgan.
Phelps has yet to meet the basketball Hall of Famer and six-time NBA champion, who also is a two-time Olympic gold medalist. But the two sports stars share a similar trait: Both men had a dream, reached for it and achieved it despite the sacrifices they made.

"I think one of the coolest things that I loved about him was it didn't matter what he had going on off the court or if he was sick or this, that," said Phelps. "He never used an excuse. He came out every single night on the court and did what he had to do to get his job done. That's what champions do. It doesn't matter what else is going on when you walk in to your arena, whatever you excel at, you're there to take care of the job that you have to do."

Morgan asked Phelps to recall the fallout from the 2009 incident in which a photograph of the swimmer allegedly smoking pot from a bong at a party surfaced.
"I'll make a million mistakes in my life but as long as I never make the same mistake again, then I've been able to learn and grow," said Phelps. He also said that the incident made him realize who his real friends were.

With retirement clear on the horizon, Phelps told Morgan that he'd most like to be remembered for "doing something that nobody else had ever done before, changing the sport of swimming. That's what I hope to walk out of this sport with."
One aspect of retirement that Phelps looks forward to is visiting oceans or resorts and not getting in the water.

"I don't want to get in the water," said Phelps. "I spent so much time in the water; I'm like 'No I'll sit here on the beach. ... I don't want to get in the water and play."
