The Hambantota International Airport is the Sri Lanka's second international airport which is currently under construction in Mattala.
This is placed in the deep south of the country close to the fast developing coastal town of Hambantota. It is also being implemented as an eco-friendly project.
A SriLankan Airlines flight has made its maiden landing at the Mattala Mahinda Rajapaksa International Airport in Hambantota, the airline said.
The event took place on Jan. 29.
The airline said that it’s technical and cabin crew onboard the Airbus A330 received a warm welcome from the staff at the Airport.
The Mattala Mahinda Rajapaksa International Airport in Hambantota is due to be opened in March 2013.
