SRI LANKA’S SUPER OVER




Since the totals tied according to rules of ICC a super over has to be bowled
The inaugural match in the Super eights league, in the ICC T 20/ 20 world cup tournament, the first match was played between the hosts Sri Lanka and the New Zealand this afternoon at the picturesque Pallekelle International Cricket stadium. New Zealand who batted first scored 174 runs and reply Sri Lanka scored the identical amount i.e 174 runs when the match was declared as a tie.
According to the ICC rules in T 20 cricket, in such an event one super over has to be bowled by each side. Sri Lanka in their super over scored 13 runs while New Zealand could score only 8 runs. As a result Sri Lanka were declared winners in this first super eights T 20 encounter.
