Kandy Colombo Super Luxury Expo Rail

The route to Kandy by rail has always been a memorable experience. But now for the first time in Sri Lanka the trip to the hills and back has been made so luxurious and soothing with the launch of Sri Lanka’s very first private super luxury service launched by Expo Rail.

The Private Super Luxury Expo Rail Compartment made its inaugural journey to Kandy last week amidst a distinguished gathering which also included top Expo Rail officials and other guests including television’s golden girls Nirosha Perera and Irosha Perera who marked another first by hosting their popular ‘Iroshai Niroshai’ programme on this journey together with Sirasa Super star finalists.

Travelling past the scenic rocky mountains, the breathtaking, picturesque greenery and through the startling dark tunnels, the passengers are enveloped in the cool and cozy atmosphere during the 150-minute journey which is spiced with the warmth of the courteous in-house service including on-board meals and entertainment.  The compartments are equipped with state-of-the- art facilities which include seats which offer comfort and ease, wi-fi facility and other services, transporting you to a world filled with novel rail experience.
The Expo Lanka Group is globally renowned for its  diverse range of activities such as exports, imports, trading, freight forwarding & logistics, manufacturing, airline representation and operation, travel and tourism and information technology.

Expo Lanka has always had a ‘green’ focus in all its activities and works tirelessly towards reducing the carbon footprint, being environmentally conscious, reducing noise pollution and many other noteworthy ‘green’ habits.

Expo has now ventured into passenger railway transport paving the way to engrave its name as the first privately managed super luxury train operator. Expo Rail has pledged to take over 10 compartments and convert them into super luxury outfits. Initially as each compartment is made ready; it will be attached to the routine trains already on schedule as an extra compartment. The 40-passenger initial compartment to Kandy and back was so successful that inquiries are flowing in, an Expo Rail official said. The compartment will also feature its own outstanding crew members especially trained in hospitality management which is also a massive step towards increasing Sri Lanka’s potential in tourism and travel. The ability to book tickets online via www.exporail.lk from anywhere in the world and be assured of a first class service is something that has been missing in the Sri Lankan holiday package. Expolanka also will utilize its in-house resources to expand the train service which will include hotel bookings, transfers, excursions and all-inclusive travel coordination aspects.

Expolanka Holdings CEO Hanif Yusoof and other dedicated team members had been working tirelessly to transform this dream on the right track.

Expolanka officials said they were grateful to Senior officials of the Railways Department, the Transport Ministry especially Transport Ministry Secretary Dhammika Perera and his team.
